“…as gorgeous as any ensemble in recent memory… immaculately articulated exuberance.” – The Strad
Over the past two decades, the Paris-based Quatuor Ébène has redefined excellence in both classical and modern repertoires. Their “boundless” (Bachtrack) creativity has fascinated concertgoers around the world and earned them prestigious awards, including Gramophone, Choc Classica, Diapason d’Or, and BBC Music Magazine accolades.
In this concert, discover the joyful exuberance of Beethoven’s inaugural quartet and the intricate depth of the Grosse Fuge, originally intended as the finale of his expansive Op. 130. Additionally, Quatuor Ébène will present the Hong Kong premiere of Self-portrait in three colors, an exciting new work written by their former cellist, Raphaël Merlin, co-commissioned by HKU MUSE.
